I have found several positive results from working with Glen. The one that is the most portable between our meetings is the work that we have done on "mindfulness". It's very simple: We start each visit with a six minute period in which we close our eyes and silently do a mindfulness exercise in which we concentrate on our breaths. Sound easy? It is easy , if you don't get distracted by losing your concentration every 2-10 seconds.
At first, I saw no effects at all in my daily world. But slowly I began to notice moments in which I was both in the middle of my day and at the same time, watching the feelings that would continually come up and then fade on their own. In itself, this has not "cured" a single thing. But over time it has helped me see more clearly the things that I have some responsibilities for, as well as the things that happen around me over which I have not one bit of control. This is a priceless gift.
