Anxiety

Anxiety is often caused by our awareness and focus being more in the future than in the present. We begin to anticipate negative or frightening things happening that we have absolutely no control over which can trigger us to be in the "fight or flight mode". Anxiety can lead to impaired social relationships, poor job or school performance and numerous health issues such as high blood pressure and heart disease. I teach relaxation techniques, guided imagery, breath and body awareness to slow down the flight or flight mechanism which causes feelings of anxiety or panic. I teach systematic desensitization to work on phobias. I also use cognitive behavioral therapy combined with mindfulness training as tools to reduce anxiety and stress which can be used even when you complete therapy.
